Engine mounts for 454 in 87 V10
Hi all, well I got the 350 fininally pulled today and i plan on trying to set the 454 in tonight when some buddies show up to help. Now from what i gather I'm okay to use the 350 mounts on the frame, but, they need to be moved to a different set of holes? Does anybody know exactly which holes to use (just trying to avoid trial and error)... I tried to do as much homework for this swap as possible but theres always a few SNAFUs bound to occur, I just hope the mounts are straight forward... and I've got the 454 engine mounts for the engine side.
thanks everybody, cheers, Andrew MIB "old n' busted": "new hottness": |

Thanks I was really hoping that was going to be the case, cause yeah when i took those mounts off I didnt see any other options... so i guess the difference is all in the engine mounts. Well I had to wrestle with the harness for too long and it keeps threatening to rain so we're gonna tackle the new engine placement tomorrow. still have to line up the pressure plate and all that stuff too.

Well engine dropped right in, drives side manifold is really close to the slave cylinder which worries me, did these trucks come with different manifolds for automatics and standards? I'm not even sure if a 454 in a half ton 4wd was ever a factory combination?

Re: Engine mounts for 454 in 87 V10
I'd like some shorty headers, but I've got to get this thing back on the road... as for stock power #'s: around 240 hp & 400 ftlbs torque at around 2500 rpm, so i've been told. This engine is rebuilt but to stock specs.
