Re: old school chrome lug nuts
With two exceptions it seems true acorn lug nuts are no longer being produced. What are currently being called acorn nuts are in reality mag wheel nuts in both shank and conical styles with a flat end, not the domed shape of an acorn nut. The exception being the bullet nuts which are elongated and don't look like acorn nuts either. The other is the Mr. Gasket offering. It has the dome top even if it is a bit longer:
http://www.mr-gasket.com/ProductDeta...minselection=1 Your best chance of finding some original short acorn nuts might be with NOS GM parts. I seem to me remember some of the mid 60's GM rally wheels came with either stainless or chrome acorn nuts. The earliest examples were a regular lug nut with a stainless acorn cap swaged on. Later these were replaced with fully chromed versions, but about this time they also migrated to the mag wheel lug nut shape because there was more room inside for greater stud thread engagement. Hopefully there is a supplier out there, but I'm not finding any of the vintage design on ebay or with any of the specialty wheel suppliers.

Re: old school chrome lug nuts
I always buy the Summit house brand chrome acorn nuts. They have a rounded top.
