A/C question
Yet another question in the line of trying to decide if I want to use used parts or spending the extra $$$ for new. Found a donor truck that had factory A/C. All the parts are there from controls to compressor. My truck is not an A/C so I don't have any of the vents and I don't know if those can be pulled.
The plus side is this system is 1/3 of the price a vintage air unit. I know I will need some parts but it seems like a solid system to start with. Anyone made this conversion of a stock A/C system into a non A/C truck? |

change out your dash, cut along the dash pad holes, two bolts and replace with a/c dash. Now you have a a/c truck.

The firewall is different too.
I modded mine. It isn't impossible but you do need to weld in some metal and cut some other away. I purchased an AC dash intending to do like 19stepSide72 said but I eventually just used it for a template to cut holes in my current dash.

You can get louvers that mount under or through your dash.

You don't HAVE to modify the firewall. I just set the box in place and drilled new holes. A/C and heat work just fine. Old air or Vintage air has the templates to cut new holes that you can print out.

I did it the hard way I guess but the cheapest I guess to. I bought a junk AC truck and swaped it all over to my truck. I cut the holes and mounted everything myself.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |
