Oil Pan Leak 68 Chevrolet
I have developed an oil leak at the plug on the oil pan of my 350 engine. I tried replacing the plastic washer/gasket that was on the plug, then I replaced the plug with a new one along with a fiber type gasket/washer, it seem to help some, but I still have a leak. Any ideas short of replacing the oil pan? Even a short term fix until the budget allows an oil pan change, I just don't have the talent or facilities to pull the transmission to change the oil pan.

Re: Oil Pan Leak 68 Chevrolet
on my '69 i was able to pull the pan without removing anything else. it looks like it wont come out, but it will and you should be able to slide it out the back.
is the plug mating surface warped or does it have a burr or something? thats odd that a new seal and a new plug wouldnt fix it. |

Re: Oil Pan Leak 68 Chevrolet
i agree the mateing surface where the plug and pan contact could b at fault. i'd check with a straight edge any maybe run a broad flat file over it to clean it up
