Re: Tonneau Cover?

For materials and time spent you could most likely buy one.....

Cheapest place I could find on the net when I bought mine;

Re: Tonneau Cover?

im going to attempt making one also. Im going to make mine to fit inside of the bed rails and was thinking of making it out of sheet metal or aluminum. It would be nice to fiberglass one but damn that would be alot of work.

I would also like to put it inside of the bed rails. I dont like the ones that are made for the trucks now and they are really expense.

14 bucks a yard at 78" wide.. just perfect for a fleetside

I bought some material and just havent had time to make one for my fleetside... I made one for my 01 step side and it was nothing short of pimp. some 1x2 and a thin thin sheet of pressboard or something like it. Nail gun and some batting to make it soft... oh yeah pimp. Sat inside the rails, not water tight, but looked right.

Re: Tonneau Cover?

My cover was made locally, wasn't cheap. LOL. I had originally planned to buy one made from convertible top material, that stuff was really expensive. LOL.

I've purchased a lot of upholstery material from www.yourautotrim.com .

The cover comes in handy while traveling.

How many yards did you order to be enough for your bed?

Re: Tonneau Cover?

Old topic, but wanted to share: The material used by professional upholstery shops in Europe / Asia is called Sunbrella. This is not that expensive and will last for a lifetime without losing color.
