americas most haunted C-10
Here's a 68 stepper I saw last weekend at "The Myrtles" plantation in ST.Francisville LA. Snapped these as we were leaving, and have meant to call back to ask if it's for sale...just haven't done it yet. I don't think it will be because there's a tag on the front bumper that reads Worlds greatest grandad, so it likley is very sentimental to the owner. Any way looks very solid and the odom... reads 46k or so. I would love to have it just because of where it's been sitting for the last couple years. Would be really cool to have at shows in the fall....

Re: americas most haunted C-10
clean and all there! you should at least call and ask to speak with the owner (if you can find them). even if they are attached to it, a lot of times they really respect you asking about it. who knows, the worlds greatest grandpa may want to sell it to someone who appreciates it. wouldn't hurt to ask!

Re: americas most haunted C-10
The Myrtles is an old plantation home. It's on the historic places register...and is considered one of the 3 most Haunted places in America. There have been several tv shows (CBS news, Discovery channel, TLC,...) that featured it and did stories about the alledged hauntings. Since the recent increase in interest in the paranormal, Business seems to be pretty good for tours and the bed and breakfast. Also rooms are reserved for Oct. 31st. in the first 10 min. of business on ...may 1st. It looks like the truck has been sitting for a while, so who knows maybe the "gost" use it to escape all the tourist in the house....

Re: americas most haunted C-10
YEP.. HE'S PROBABLY NEVER BEEN ASKED THAT BEFORE, OR AT LEAST NOT IN THE LAST 35 OR 40 YEARS. I'VE HAD PEOPLE STOP ME & ASK IF WHAT I WAS DRIVING WAS FOR SALE OR COME UP TO MY DOOR & ASK IF I'D SELL ONE OF MY PROJECTS. YA KNOW.... MAYBE I'M JUST OLD FASHIONED THAT WAY... BUT I DON'T EVER REMEMBER FEELING FLATTERED AT ALL. EVER!. SEEMS LIKE EVERYBODY WAS LOOKING FOR A $300 SCORE OF A FIND, IN A $10000 TRUCK. MY STANDARD ANSWER WAS.. "AW DON'T TELL ME SOME IDIOT PUT A FOR SALE SIGN IN ONE OF MY TRUCKS". NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG... I REALLY LIKE TO TALK TO STRANGERS ABOUT MY TRUCKS OR HOT RODS WHEN I'M GETTING GAS OR APPRECIATE THE OCCASIONAL THUMBS UP AT A LIGHT, BUT KINDA FEEL LIKE MY PRIVACY HAS BEEN INVADED WHEN A STRANGER CALLS OR KNOCKS ON MY DOOR TOTALLY UNSOLICITED. IF HE'S A GROUCHY OLD GUY LIKE ME... WHEN YOU CALL HIM... DON'T MENTION THAT YOU TOOK PICTURES OF HIS TRUCK & PLASTERED THEM ACROSS THE INTERNET WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION, CAUSE HE PROBABLY WON'T LIKE THAT EITHER. BUT WHO KNOWS.... MAYBE HE'LL BE FLATTERED.

Re: americas most haunted C-10
I spoke with the manager yesterday and she's gonna ask the owners about the potential to buy the truck. Apparently the original owner gave the truck to his grandsons who are very busy with other things and have parked the truck there for a while. The manager of the B&B said she would contact them, and then give me a call back....I guess I'll know soon. In a way I hate to see the truck move out of the family, but if they are not interested in it, and do not have a place to keep it out of the weather, then it will be better to pass it to someone who'll save it from the louisiana humidity. I've lived in central LA most of my life and a vehicle can rust to pieces just sitting like this. Anyway, I post the reply when it comes.

Re: americas most haunted C-10
This is turning out to be a cool story line at least.
Sounds like it'd get more love in meangreen68's camp. We drove Dads original 72 c10 in "road closed" conditions outta Utah to california(blizzard) to give it a second life. New battery, wack the calipers, new carrier bearing and we were off. No longer sitting out covered in snow. But it did from 72 - 05. Gotta nice rusted original look. Drivetrain new now though. I don't wax so the rust stays. Pics pending. We too get thumbs up. (No...it's not 4 sale) Last edited by RustyDan; 05-01-2010 at 09:21 PM. |

Re: americas most haunted C-10
There is a HBO series called True Blood ( about vampires) that has been on for the last two years. The show is shot in Louisiana and I'm sure this truck
( or its twin brother) has been used in the show. I don't think I've ever seen the front of the truck but the back has been in it when there were unloading supplies for Merlots bar & grill. I guess the drivers side antenna would give it away if they use it again. How about that, maybe its a Movie Star haunted truck.

Re: americas most haunted C-10
Well the news is....not so great for the want to be buyer. The manager of the property said she spoke to the owner/owners and they don't want to sell.
Supposed to save it for their sons I believe. Anyway apparently it's not available for purchase right now. Hopefully they will get it out of the weather while the rockers and cab corners, etc are still solid. It would be a shame for this truck to go the way of many vehicles that are the victims of good intentions. I do however understand their wants to hang on to such a cool family hierloom. And, now, on with the search for the perfect project. what a cool old truck though.
