Re: Front axle center measurements

I dont know if it helps, but '55 2nd - '59's are 28 3/8" from the leading edge of the front cab mount to axle centerline. I dont know what the number is from the front of the frame horns. But, I used a plumb to find centerline on my leveled frame and checked against the 28 3/8" and it was dead on.

Re: Front axle center measurements

I was going to mark the original but when I took it apart I noticed one of the leaf springs had been changed a some point and one was a bit longer than the other man they did some crazy things back then or maybe it was my frugal grandfather not sure either way it made they axle off center....

Re: Front axle center measurements

Per the drawings, it's 28.594 inches to the c/l of the front wheels from the front edge of the frame.

I remember seeing full frame dimension drawings somewhere, do you know where? I have the basic wheelbase drawings in the shop manual but that's all.

Re: Front axle center measurements

Bmacdona sent me some factory specs on the frame and centerlines I guess I was wondering if anyone had to change the centerline on drasticly lowered ad trucks like further forward or back....

I'm picking up a crossmember today. I look forward to seeing how you do yours. My install is probably at least a few months out still.
