measure, your full extended distance, and jack your control arm up and measure the compression height, then take your measurements to your local parts store, then listen to them laugh! haha. seriously. very few parts stores are actually able to help. a lot of people behind the computers know nothing about a car. just my 2 cents. lol but the measuring works well. but drop shocks take the guess work out my friend for a few dollars extra and they usually ride better beings they are engineered for dropped trucks

Re: before i lower my truck with springs

How much are you lowering your truck with springs? I did a 2.5 front spindle and 4 drop in rear with springs. I was able to use stock shocks in front of course but in rear I used front shocks for a 73-87 4x4 half ton. Been like that for years and no issues. The measurements were nearly perfect for the rear.

Re: before i lower my truck with springs

After I had lowered my truck 2" in the front, 2" drop coil springs, I used the dropped shocks from LMC. It had McCaughy's labels on them. For some reason they worked great for about 6 months and then they wore out. Of course my truck is my daily driver.

I have recently used the "blue" monroes part# 33033. $21.99 @ O'riellys. They are stock for the 73 - 87 chevy c10 I believe. So far they are holding up really well. I'm sorry I can't help you out for the rear shocks as I have the "rake", stock rear/ dropped front.

I hope this helps you out.
