"a true 10,912 mile original"
Maybe some of you saw this already or there is a thread I couldn't find... but have a look at this truck on eBay, comes with never removed jack/tools AND the original tire/wheels!
Is this a member selling? just curious...

Re: "a true 10,912 mile original"
Sorry... not to rain on anyone's parade... but there is too much grease and oil on that engine to only have 10,000 mile on it. Prolly 110,000 miles. It is in pristine shape for it's age for sure. But hardly any vehicles from that era have super low miles on them. If they do... they are prolly in a museum.
I always am wary of sellers touting the vehicle as "best all original truck in the world". When the description is waaayyyy overdone to describe the "finer" points of the originality is pointless. Someone that really knows what these trucks are worth, will know what to look for. He's got a nice truck that will sell for way more than it's probably worth... cuz it's on ebay. Gary

Re: "a true 10,912 mile original"
I gotta agree that the engine bay looks a bit "tired" compared to the rest of the vehicle.
Then again, it's a 38 year old truck. |

Re: "a true 10,912 mile original"
I am inclined to believe the mileage. The details on the rest of the truck are pretty convincing! Notice the emissions label on the valve cover, the near perfect seat, AWESOME door panels, etc. I owned a 32,000 mile garaged Montana truck and the detail under the hood was the least impressive part of the truck.
I'm a believer! Last edited by DANTIP; 05-11-2010 at 08:06 PM. |

I believe it to be legit as well. Will be interesting to see what he wants for it. I wish it was a Cheyenne I would be very interested myself.

Re: "a true 10,912 mile original"
Dried up valve cover gaskets leak.Valve cover gaskets that sit more than drive dry up.Engine paint burns from day 1.When it sits it lifts and will look like that manifold.I do know these trucks and I do know what to look for and I see a truck that could be the "best all original truck in the world",except he replaced the split rim 16s with later 16s and added beauty rings.I am always sceptical of bold claims made by sellers. But,when you truly have such a thing it is only proper to tout it as such.

Re: "a true 10,912 mile original"
I saw and orange 72 custom deluxe lwb at the auto fair about 5 or 6 years ago with just a little over 3000 miles on it.It still had plastic on the seats and some kind of paper from the dealer over the floor mats.Had all original paint except from the upper trim up on the bed .had a camper installed when new.It had 3 holes drilled in the bed to mount the camper top and the owner removed it and had the holes welded up .Time machine! nicest original truck I have every seen.Wish I had my digital camera back then.

yep, believe it or not she is original. matter of fact, Mark posted pics of it when he got it. I have been meaning to look at it in person when visiting inlaws in Nebraska.
Joe and Randy are right, Mark (hotfun) has some incredible RARE stuff! I'll try to find the link to the original post.........

Re: "a true 10,912 mile original"
OK, I wondered if the link would come and Special K Tim sent me a note that I was on the brink of getting burned in a thread. I can easily remember the day these trucks were brand new and I have had maybe 100 of just these 67-72's in my lifetime and without a doubt this is the real 10,912 mile deal. The pictures don't do it justice and I have not even washed the dust off or wiped off the oil residue. I can tell you this about this truck and that is it has never been restored one bit or even touched up in the slightest as it is a 100% survivor exactly as you see it. YES I did put a set of radials on it off my 87 for driveability and the original bias ply Uniroyal traction lug rears and Firestone highway fronts on split rims will come with it. They are both listed on the glove box too. But they were taken off years ago and stored inside.
I have noticed this about it being so low mileage. The choke, ignition switch, steering column and shifter have a new truck feel that I can never remember having in one of these trucks. Even the chrome ac bezels, door handles, seat belts are just as nice and tight as the day this truck rolled out of the dealership. And the jack and tool bag has never been touched and it looks truely awesome. It could use some towel detailing on the engine and around the underhood but I wouldn't even dream of using a power washer to clean up what little residue of 38 years of age has left on it. Check out that engine manufacturers tag on the valve cover from April 1972. I have never seen one that complete and nice. IT even had the original GM exhaust front to rear. I've gotten into building 3 of four 73-76 ElCaminos I bought early this year and have a 70 Impala, a 60 Vette, and a 67 4x4 stepside all in progress in three different shops at the momement. So you can imagine how much money I am forking out keeping up with this pace. This truck might keep me out of builders debt for 1 or two months anyway. Anyone wanting to go back in time to see a near new 72 come and check it out if you don't believe me. Thanks to all my friends that have seen some of my trucks or farm on here sticking up for my integrity. Randy, Joe, Tim, Dan.

Beautiful original truck. Now if I could only find a short box, big block, black 72 Cheyenne with buckets console and A/C in this condition for $5000. that would be wonderful !!!!!
