What is it? 6" or 8" ?????

Hey all, ive been told when shortening a frame its 12" under the cab which ive been told from anyone ive asked, but when it comes to cutting off the back end of the frame ive heard to cut 6" inches from some and also heard 8" inches from others? so whats it gunna be? i guess i can always start with 6" inches and if it isnt enough ill cut 2"inches more off...but it would be nice to know ahead of time, thanks in advance

You need 8" off the back end....crazyL

Why shorten your frame drive 30 miles north of the border from Lyden and you can take my short bed frame for $100, no title

Well I did mine also and another and both of them I only cut off 6 inches. I used instructions from an old article from Truckin' magazine. My bumper is a stock bumper and it fits just like a regular shortbed does... I would suggest you do the 6 first if it dont look right take off 2 more

Every LWB frame I've seen (maybe not all???) had another set of diagonal aligned holes for the bumper brackets already there. IMO its not crucial on how much is taken off the rear of the frame, just so you don't get into the second get of bumper bracket holes.

I've taken 8 inches off the ones I've done, seemed to be about right.

Ok since i'm obviously the only one saying six I will agree with the 8 inch thing It's been awhile since we did those trucks but I could have sweared it was 6 off the back 18 inches total

But seeing efabman's pics of the work he has done to his makes me very jealous.....

I still say try a little then cut more if necessary
