Talking '77 GMC swb...The UGLY truck

A '77 GMC I traded an R/C truck for.....going to be a basic daily driver. Plain jane with manual brakes and steering, 250 six and three on the tree.
Pretty damn ugly, hope to change that.
Swapped out some front sheetmetal in favor of stuff with less rust....there was spray foam "patching" some of the holes...
The truck was lowerd by torching  the springs, rear leafs and all. So I swapped in stock springs in rear and installed the rear on top of leafs with new perches....
Have drop spindles, shockes and new front springs on order, so with any luck I'll be driving her in a few weeks.....

Re: '77 GMC swb...The UGLY truck

Installed new 2.5" drop spindles and 3" drop springs up front (a tad lower now), as well as all new shocks. Still looking for a decent hood. Started sanding on 'er as well......body is pretty rough, so just going to give 'er a quick gray primer jobbie and some metalflake flames for some PIZZAZ....haha.....

Re: '77 GMC swb...The UGLY truck

Well, after ALOT of sanding of all the old, black "paint" (more like undercoating...haha), I finally painted her.
Just used some old paint I had laying around. The truck is pretty rough and I just didn't have it in me (or the $$$) to make 'er really nice....
Just a little better look for a beater daily driver...haha.
Going to pinstripe around the flames in magenta here in an hour or so....
Better pics once that's finished in the sun, so the pearl flames show better...

Re: '77 GMC swb...The UGLY truck

Thanks...but the tires are staying that way......I really dig late 60's/early 70's Customs and lowriders and all the hot cars back then ran Cragars and pinner whites....haha.
I may throw on my set of OG Tru-Spokes for kicks though, also with pinners....

Re: '77 GMC swb...The UGLY truck

I have a ratty 76, worse then yours because my floors are rusted out and couple bullet holes. But basicly the same truck, I6, 3spd etc. I got it for a parts truck because it was a swb, had a fixable bed and new tires for $150. kinda making me rethink using it for parts. May make a nice work truck to beat the hell out of for a few more years.
