Unhappy Tranny help Please!!!

Ok so here is my issue. I have a TH350 in my truck now and its acting alil wierd. First off when I frist take off from a light or any stop 1st gear is really short and when it shifts it goes from 1st to drive! no 2nd gear. But strangly I can manually down shift it from drive to 2nd but it will not do it on its own. I have replaced the vacumn valve that the hard line runs to that comes from the manifold and the did not help. Also when i do down shift it to 2nd and get on it it the RPM's climb like mad but i really dont pick up speed much. Thats the only gear that does it.

Now I do have a nother trans that i bought from a member here. The only thing is that it an electronic lock up Th350 were as mine is not. I was told that it will work in my 77 and I just wont have the lock up option cause i dont have the harness to plug into the tranny on the left side. I just have to buy a lock up stall converter. I have a 2500 non lock up stall on my truck now that I just bought.

So now is there something that I can do to my tranny in the truck now to make it shift right? also leaking out the rear seal forgot to say that. Or be best to bight the bullet and buy another stall convertor and put the lock up tranny in and use it as a normal TH350? Thanks

Re: Tranny help Please!!!

If you end up replacing it, I would bite the bullet and get a stronger TH400, but that's just personal preferance.

Re: Tranny help Please!!!

i would like a TH400 but its not in the budget as of now. The TH350 i bought has been rebuilt with extra clutches and a tweaked valve body so its stronger than a stock th350 should hold fine. just curious if it will work in my truck being an electronic lock up. Have been told that 1st thru drive will work just wont have the lock up option. I dont know alot about that tho.
