Bed Supports etc
My project came with the optional rusted out bed that so many of our projects seem to start with. My question is this...
I have a brake to form up new cross pieces, supports, top hat shaped brace things. My problem is i can't find a picture of a fleetside showing how many there should be. 2? 4? 6? These are the left to right braces that the wood floor and metal strips would attach to. My bed only saw fit to have one of these. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dimensions, number, gauge, zodiac sign. Just need a starting place. I will try and find a stolen picture to attach... edit: i now know they are called sills. and knowing is half the battle |

Re: Bed Supports etc
What year truck? longbed or shortbed? (looks like a shortbed from the pics) You may find the below schematic from LMC helpful.

Re: Bed Supports etc
sorry i should have mentioned my project. It is a 64 long wheel base fleetsided 1/2 ton truck. As soon as you posted that picture from LMC i ran back to get my catalog and realized that yours is for a 67' because that page was missing from mine. LMC has that same figure and parts for a stepside but not for fleetside. no love for the fleets i tell you...

Re: Bed Supports etc
It'll probably be cheaper to get them from Mar-K. I believe he is a board vender:

Re: Bed Supports etc
I noticed that the Mar-K Site says that you need 5 for a long bed but if I remember right a long bed has on 4 cross sills 3 tall ones and one short one
The last one is the rear finish cross sill which ties the bed sides together If you count the last one it would be 5 but others on here may know more about it than me but that is my .02 cents |
