Changing to 4.75" bolt pattern?
OK, I've been looking at different wheel styles for a little over a year now, and every time I find something I really like, it's only available in 5x4.5 or 5x4.75" bolt patterns. I know the reason why is because the 5x5" pattern is specifically for trucks and large GM cars. But most wheel manafacturers won't produce a lightweight aluminum wheel for a "truck" because of load ratings. My truck hauls only a cooler and folding chairs now, so that shouldn't be a problem.
My question is, has anyone ever changed to the smaller bolt pattern on a 67-72 with stock brake and suspension components? Does anyone offer rotors and axles with the car bolt pattern? Is this even worth trying to do?

Re: Changing to 4.75" bolt pattern?
The problem is that 4 3/4 wheels don't have a large enough center to accept the truck rotor hub.
There are a couple options though. The back is easy. Take the hubs off and redrill them. Take the axles out and have a machine shop drill them for you. And machine the center of the axle down a bit. Also to accept different 4 3/4 wheels. I have done this. Classic parts of America sells a cool conversion kit for this. But you need 64-70 front spindles. Which are easy to get. Here is a link to it. http://www.classicparts.com/1964-70-...ctinfo/71-977/ I have personally used this kit. I recommend it. Very easy to install. I wanted to put Chevelle wheels on my 69 short step but ran into the same issue. This kit fixed the problem. Hope this helps you out.

Would I need to change calipers with that kit or just rotors? Aren't GM car rotors smaller than truck rotors?

At the bottom of that link it tells you what you need to do this.
Here is what it say, i copy and pasted it for you, Includes new brackets, bearings, hardware and instructions for adapting 1968-72 Chevelle, A-Body GM passenger car, 68-74 Nova or 69 Camaro rotors and 1973-77 Camaro, Chevelle, Monte Carlo passenger calipers and Mounting Pins (not included) to early truck spindles.

Re: Changing to 4.75" bolt pattern?
I've got dual bolt pattern on my truck ( both 5 on 5 and 5 on 4 3/4). I have a 73+ crossmember with disc brakes on my '68. I have stock 1.25" rotors that are drilled for 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern also. The rear axles are new moser (my originals were 6 bolt) that are dual drilled for both 5 on 5 and 5 on 4 3/4 patterns. I couldn't find a shop to redrill and weld my original 6 lug axles for a reasonable price. It was cheaper to buy new axles and bearings. The front drums for a '56 bel air as well as some '73 + vans ( some have a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern) will work out back. I did have to have the font hubs turned by a machine shop to get the right hub diameter to run my bel air steelies and spider caps. Wasn't that hard to do at all.
