After buying new plugs and wires and adjusting the fuel mixture I get an awesome idle. The problem is when I hit the gas, the engine brfiefly accelerates then hiccups then continues to accelerate. It is worse when I am in gear and driving. I used to have a high idel and no acceleration problem. What do you guys think it is??? Oh yeah it starts on a dime now too so I dont think it is the fuel pump, but maybe?

Check accelerator pump shot in carb, look down the carb with engine off, and pump the throttle slowly, you should have a steady stream of gas in the carb, if not then the pump sleave on the inside is damaged, or there is junk down in the pump well impeading the flow.

Great, had it rebuilt last year so I didnt even think of that but you are probably right.

I think Rich 5150 69 is correct; or the pump needs an adjustment. The engine needs the extra fuel to compensate for the air when you press the accelerator.
