What do you do with floor vent sliders

In restoring or cleaning up an old truck what do you do with the parking brake slider bar and the floor vent sliders? do you chrome them? clean and polish? or just paint to repaint later??

Re: What do you do with floor vent sliders

For the floor vent sliders I made new ones out of aluminium, bent in a vice to the same shape as original. Sorry no pics at work.

Here is a picture of the new vent arm. Needs to be polished up a little.
