Maybe worth that much. Keep in mind that it was stored inside and washed all the time. Usually those fire departments keep these trucks mint. If it comes with the fire apparatus I'd say its definitely worth it.

I GUESS IT'S WORTH WHATEVER SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY. I LOVE OLD FIRE DEPT. TRUCKS. I HAD A 67 1 TON 4X4 YEARS AGO THAT ONLY HAD 23000 MILES ON THE CLOCK. IT WAS A NICE OLD TRUCK.. BUT REMEMBER.. IT WAS USSUALLY DRIVEN BY A DIFFERENT PERSON... NEVER ALLOWED TO WARM UP BEFORE DRIVEN LIKE A BAT OUTA H@LL WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERN FOR THE MECHANICS OF THE VEHICAL. THEY WERE RESPONDING TO A FIRE FOR GODS SAKE!.. I LOVE EM JOHN

Yes the engines usually do take a beating, but on the other hand, at least in my experience, they fix things the right way.

Very cool...but I wouldn't pay $10k for it; more like $5 or 6k at the most, but then I'm a tightwad.

Yeah, a local fire department has a 69 or 70 that is cherry. Another has a 67 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 that is mint. Though on that one they recently upgraded to a set of later axles that have disk brakes, as the chief said its easy to smoke the brakes with 250 gallons of water.

Re: 70 4x4 3/4 ton 28k "Brush Truck"(?) on NC CL

gcburdic,

A Brush Truck usually just has a tank and a couple smaller nozzles where a guy can stand on the front and back while they drive around a brush or field fire. They basically drive right into field and brush fires with while guys on the front and back try to lay down enough water to put the fire out. They get driven through ditches and around fields... basically anywhere that they can't drive the Big Big Red Trucks.
