fuel problems on my 87 tbi

my truck has been idling kinda rough...kinda up and down on the rpms, then the other day it wouldn't let me go full throttle, it would bog. I started it last night before I went to bed, and today it won't start at all. I replaced the fuel filter. nothing. I can pour fuel into the tbi and it will fire and run the fuel off, but thats it. I'm replacing the tank because its rusted through. Any suggestions while I have the tank off?

Re: fuel problems on my 87 tbi

Mine would not start a few months ago and I pulled the sending unit and cleaning it up and it fired after than. It could be the fuel pump in the tank. I have a dump body so it was an easy quick job but if your tank is rusted it could be the pump or pump screen which is pluged. You should hear the pump start when you turn the key on.

ok, well, you definitely can't hear the pump anymore. when I removed it there was a loose ground wire. I'm assuming the blue wire coming out of the loom should be attached to something. we'll take it from there I guess.
