I Almost Cried.

Hey guys, I took a load of scrap to the scrapyard today and I about started to cry when I pulled off the scale. This is very very very sad. There were more but I was too teary to get them.

Re: I Almost Cried.

I watched my local scrapyard take a very nice, clean early 80s 2WD Suburban off a trailer with something similar to a backhoe. After they dumped it, I went over to look at it. It was very nice other than the damage done to it during offloading.

Suburbans don't sell for much here, even if they are really nice. If it had a bad engine or transmission as I assume, it might have been worth more as scrap.

Re: I Almost Cried.

a lot of those trucks look like rust bombs and most were longbeds. longbed 2wd dont go for much around my hood. when cash for clunkers was around i saw a 3/4 ton 4x4 1991 suburban with mint interior and exterior. Also saw a k30 crew cab in the lot next door to the suburban.

Re: I Almost Cried.

Yea I was at the bone yard a while back & the fellow who worked there said he saw a pretty good mid 80's 4 wheel dr. shortbed come in . Had a good body at home & wanted to put the body on the frame & running gear & couldnt beleive it when they told him they couldnt sell it to him because of the cash for clunkers program . That same day Ipulled a sport bumper in straight good shape off of a burb a few minutes before it went to the crusher. Idont quite understand that clunker deal (or should Isay scam)

Re: I Almost Cried.

Here's the sad part, the place where these trucks are, the won't sell the public parts. But they are keeping an eye out for a set of wheels for me. The trim on the 2 tone one in my last picture was in perfect shape too.

Racker, it doesn't seem to make mine worth more. Everyone I've talked to has said mine is a $1,500 truck at best.

Re: I Almost Cried.

ALL, and I say again ALL of those trucks would be assets up here. I'm parting out a farm truck, that is in far worse shape than ANY of those...
