HELP!!!! No Title
It's a long story but here are the cliff notes. Have a project truck I finally have gotten back to. Bought a parts truck with no title and swapped the cabs to project truck and through miss communication with my son old cab and vin tag (which matched my title) went to the scap yard and was chewed up. Now I have no matching title to the project truck. I live in Wa. state and they normally don't check the vin. and titles but Iam concerned if I wanted to sell the truck in the future. I would just file for a lost title but the guy I bought current cab from I can no longer get ahold of. Any ideas anyone. thanks, John

Re: HELP!!!! No Title
You have to get ahold of the WA Dept of Licensing and file a lost title. You will have to haul the vehicle down to the nearest WA State Patrol office to have the VIN checked. Since the VIN on the cab will not match the frame... the vehicle will need to be licensed to whatever year the frame is, regardless of what cab or body is on it.
WA State Patrol can take up to 6 months to get back to you on the VIN. They have to run it in their database to ensure it's not stolen, and wait to see if anyone claims it in the 6 month time period. It ain't cheap eaither. I think you'll spend a total of about 300 bucks to go through the process from Dept. of Lic, and through the WSP. I had to do the lost title thing about 8 years ago with a dirt bike. Gary

Re: HELP!!!! No Title
The state of Washington will allow you to register the truck for 3 years without the title. First you must send a registered letter to the last known address of the person on the title you seek. Once you receive that letter back from the post office unopened, you take it down to the DMV and they will give you a registration for the truck. You must then register it for the next three years. If the previouse owner doesn't come back into the picture and contest ownership of the truck after 3 years, DMV will issue a new title in your name. My mother just went through this with a Sameri that my son gave her. WES

Thanks guys. If I have the title that matches the frame does that make it any easier? Maybe I should just part it out. lol lol

Re: HELP!!!! No Title
If you have a title to the chassis, you may be able to get the guys from Trimtags.com to make you a new vin plate. They will do it, but you must have all the supporting documents. I would just tell them you removed the tag to paint the cab and then lost the tag. WES
