been trying to buy this since 2004
Was my 3rd atempt to try and buy this truck.
1st time the lady said her husband had died and the son was getting it. 2nd time yrs later the son said a guy offered him alot of $$ for it and it was sold. 3rd time, I went buy the neighborhood and it was still sitting in the same spot so I stopped and ask what the deal was on the truck, thought it had been sold afew yrs back. Made the guy a offer and he said sure, so brought her home for my son. My daughter drove a 69 to highschool now it seems my son will also. Check her out! Also bought a 72 cheynn.lwb donor truck for a few goodies!

Re: been trying to buy this since 2004
Nice score man!
I have stopped by to check on a 72 swb that is sitting out beside a house in my neighborhood every couple years for a while. It was the old mans, the son lives there and he always said he is going to "fix it up one day" .... So it will probably sit there and rust forever, glad to see you saved one! |

Re: been trying to buy this since 2004
I saw one similar to it for sale not far from me a few weeks ago. Wasn't in as good of condition as your's though. It took all the strength I had not to stop in and look at it every time I passed. If I stopped I knew I would be draggin it home. (if the price was reasonable) I even slowed down and had my foot on the brake one time, until common sense slapped me in the face. It's no longer there, so somebody's probably got a nice little project.

I'm so proud of my son, he has always kinda waited on dad to shell out the cash for what he wanted like most kids these days do. But since that truck has been unloaded here at the shop he has found a way to make money for his truck. He has cut grass and weedeat yards and there was a family whos house burned down and he help them remove items for the inside of the what was left over in the house. He has made alittle over $200.00 bucks and is still looking for work to do. He has bought all the tune up stuff for the 350 and the trans. He pulled the 307 and 350 turbo out and has just about done everything on his own, with the helpfull eyes and ears of yours truely! He is 15yrs old and I'm so proud of him. I was in a bad wreck 3 months ago and really cant do alot other than tell him what to do next. But he listen's and takes good advise from his dad. Sorry for ramblin but I'm so proud of my son! I'll keep yall posted on the update's. The 72 lwb truck has been a huge help with the doors and the front carrier and rearend that he will get the pleasure of swapping out in the near future!

Re: been trying to buy this since 2004
This story is kinda like how I got my 67 - I bugged the old man for a couple of years, wouldn't sell because his kids wanted it, he passed away, wife wouldn't sell because kids wanted it, they never did anything with it, stopped by at the right time and drove it home for $1000!

Re: been trying to buy this since 2004
Well ole Buck got the front carrier swapped out with the 72 so now the 69 has front 5 lug power disc brakes and 2morrow after he get off work he said he wanted to start getting ready to swap out the rearends. I got a stick of
2x2 thick wall tubin so I'll fab up some blocks for the truck to be lowered with After that it's time to flush out the brake system and start bleeding them. Then preassure was the chassi and do aliltle painting and add the new Monroe shocks! More updates tocom in the near future! Stay tune...................

Re: been trying to buy this since 2004
OK I got to get some pic.s on here real soon, jus having trouble with the download for some reason.
UPDATE: Ole Buck has the 5 lug rearend out of the 72 and has installed it into his 69 with 2" lowering blocks. He is gonna hook the 6 lugger up in the 72 know and it's time to get the brakes up and working! Then I guess he will install the 350/350 combo. I will try to get some pic.s soon! Thanks proud daddy............

Re: been trying to buy this since 2004
Best thing about parents that like old car's and trucks.I've always said it you get the kids in to the old stuff first and they really respect what they have later.I feel today's parents need to understand that a truck is way more better for a boy or a girl they can take a hit and your kids can only get 2 of his closes friends in the cab.Get these kids into being gauge watchers and see that truck last them for 15 years or longer
