3 speed overdrive transmission questions?
I was wondering if 65-66 Chevy. C10 trucks had a factory 3 speed overdrive transmission option? How well did these transmissions perform? Does anyone have information on the operation of these, or one for sale?

I believe some did. I think they mostly came in the panel trucks. I talked to one guy and he had one in a early el camino. Its a Saginaw 3 speed with a borg warner overdrive. The overdrive activated by a switch and kicks in automatic. Some guys take the OD unit off and put them on a saginaw 4 speed.
I'm looking for one myself for my 66. I want to keep the 3 on the tree but have a overdrive for the highway. I found a video of one

Wow thanks for the info. I have a 65 C10 with a 3 on the tree. I was thinking of the same set up as you are planning. I just saw a nice trans. sell on Ebay but i didn't know enough about them. Please keep in touch on your findings.

i found some on www.car-part.com
but coming out of a junk yard you really dont know what kind of shape its in. Also I did some research on these transmissions a while back and one guy told me he put one in a chevelle with a very mild 454 and they ran it for years.
