hp #s
What's the hp #s for a stock 6.0 with a tune. I won't be adding a bunch go fast as this will be in my "tow stuff around, rock crawl, mud, grocery gettin" truck. So I need to keep the low end low.

Re: hp #s
Not sure if this helps or not, but I had a Trailblazer SS 2007 and it had 395 at the flywheel.

Re: hp #s
6.0 iron block with the '01 up 317 aluminum heads came with 300-325hp and 370-380tq....and will make 350hp/380tq easily...with stock trim, a good tune, and cold air intake. Add headers and good exhaust and a good torqey cam, and you might get 400hp/400tq or more....
I'm using a gen IV 6.0L iron block, the newer L92/LS3 style rectangular intake port heads, and will be going the carbureted route. With the cam selected, headers, a 750 Holley HP and the stock 6.0 iron long block (only the LY6 has these large valve heads)...am looking for 500+hp and 440+tq from this combo. There are lots of genIII iron block 6.0's out there. Most are 300-325hp/360-370tq LQ4's but some are the higher compression 345hp/380tq LQ9. Then the aluminum genIV 6.0 LS2 is a 400hp/400tq motor, and there are the genIV L76 and L99 aluminum 6.0's that make around 360hp and 400hp respectively, but have features like DOD and VVT. My LY6 had VVT but since I'm going w/o the factory efi its coming out and going to another member.

Re: hp #s
A friend of mine has a 5.3L lm7 in his 60' Impala wagon. Bones stock with the MAST M-90 ECM and MAST cam and spring package it made 440hp at the flywheel on the engine dyno.
If you have the rectangle port heads, with cam and springs and a good tune you can see 550hp easily. If you have cathedral port heads expect around 500hp. If you can control your VVT then you can squeeze another 30ish hp.

Re: hp #s
and all electronics? ECM/TCM/harness/OBDII port? If it's a 2500 (and maybe 3500) its probably the LY6 with VVT and DBW, so you'll need the pedal assembly too.
if you get everything...thats not bad unless it has tons of miles on it.

Look to see if it has the rectangle or cathedral port heads.

Re: hp #s
The number will be 317 if it's rectangle port.

Re: hp #s
nope....317's are genIII cathedral port heads, like from a LQ4. 243's are also genIII/IV heads as they came on the LS6 and LS2.
823 (and 821?) are rectangular ports

Oh yeah, I forgot he said it was the newer style. My bad. I even meant to say cathedral port.
