Does the switch have 4 terminals, with one pair N/C and the other N/O?

The brake light switch looks like it will fit and have the connectors for brake lights and torque converter lockup. The rest of the stuff in the kit don't know about, never worked on 700r4. Good luck.

yes the 80`s chevy switch has the normally open /normally closed circuitry in it as well and it fits like factory, I just cut off the connectors and soldered on the new wiring

This as struck my interests, can somebody explain why/what the brake light switch does for the 700r4 converter.

what the switch does is unlock the lock up type torque converter, when you apply the brakes. without it your vehicle would stall out when you came to a stop, similar to trying to stop a standard transmission vehicle without applying the clutch.

The engine won't stall when the car is stopped because the clutch cannot engage when the transmission is in 1st gear. This feature is incorporated into the valve body design. I have wired the lockup circuit without the brake switch and did not have any problems. Ray |

If you had a stock valve body, I have no explanation for that. The converter clutch really is not supposed to engage in 1st gear.

but if your at speed and apply the brakes to stop, switch in-op, the converter will stay locked up in any gear, od down threw 1st. there will be no signal telling it to unlock. i think?

Yes, that would definitely happen if you locked up the rear wheels at speed. The transmission wouldn't have time to downshift and the engine would die. That's why I think the switch was included on the factory installations.
