Question Emblem Education

Okay guys.... let's talk emblems.

I wanted to see if someone can explain the difference between the emblems that were available on the '67-72 era of trucks.

CST = 67-70
Cheyenne = 71-72
Custom/XX = ??
C/XX = ??
Emblem/10 = 67-68
Custom = 67-68

Who can help me out? I know what the repoper's say, but I'm looking for what would have been available back in the late 60's and early 70's.

Re: Emblem Education

Hope this synapsis helps... options have nothing to do with engine or transmission but what interior/exterior trim was included on the truck (i.e. cheyenne super with 307 2bbl carb and 3 speed was possible as was a c10 with 396 and th400 or truck type 4 speed)

67-68
bowtie no door emblem-low option
bowtie custom door emblem-mid option
bowtie cst door emblem-high option
69-70
c10- low option
custom 10- mid option
cst 10- high option

71
custom 10- low option
cheyenne 10- mid option
cheyenne super 10 -high option introduced in april 1971
72
custom 10 -low option
custom deluxe 10- mid option
cheyenne 10- mid option
cheyenne super 10- high option

highlander package 3 seperate packages 3 levels of options- promotion to move late 72 deluxes-
custom camper stand alone option superceded any of the above with emblem, and consisted of camper specific options that were selected by buyer or dealer.

Re: Emblem Education

Thanks for letting me know my truck is cheap!

Question:Was a 70 series truck available in 67-68? I am wanting to do an LS7 for my truck and I thought making the C-70 emblem say 7.0 would be kinda cool... or maybe I'm just a dork con pelo.

Re: Emblem Education

Longhorn was available from 69-72, IIRC it could be had in any trim option lke the custom camper, but only applied to 3/4 and 1 ton models. Sorry for leaving out the GMC guys honestly I have only seen about 10 GMC trucks in person since I started messing with these trucks over 20 years ago... they follow the same pattern as Chevy, but are classified a custom, super custom, sierra and sierra grande. there has been some debate here before when the first grande became available- in 1970 or 71 when the super was released. The longhorn and custom camper equipment was available for the GMC models as well. The sierra and the grande were the GMC equilivents to the cheyenne and the super, but GMC sometimes listed the sierra as YE9 (cheyenne super rpo- regular production option or order) and sometimes it was listed as Z84 (cheyenne rpo) so they are confusing at the very least. To confuse things even more, of the chevy trucks exported as cheyennes recieved the option code for cheyenne super????
