Flame Throwers/No Gasoline/Better Way?
Ok, we know how the flamethrower works off an engine. Raw gas goes right down the cylinders flushing the oil with it. Not good for our engines! Someone has to have rigged up some using, propane or alcohol or some other fuel with a jet plumbed to it. I've seen some long flames on some the the youtube vids and they arn't from the normal flamethrower kits. Anyone fab'd up one? Any pics?

the kits i've seen have nothing to do with gas from the engine or going thru engine no washing cyl walls, i think you dont understand the systems, i'd suggest doing more research b4 attempting an install //they have sparkplug installed in tailpipe and inject gas into tailpipe from a resevoir

Well "cdowns" you need to do a little more research. If you look at most of the kits such as the Autoloc kit and others, that's the way it's done. Heck, Stacy David did a Trucks show that showed you how to do it with the cautions on FUEL IN OIL(check out youtube, I think it's still there). Some of us "oldtimers" were building our own systems in the 50's and 60's long before kits came out!
Nevertheless, if you've seen one w/other reservoir, that's what I'm looking for. I've mocked them up before and not got long enough flame. |

Raymo is right. Many systems use raw gas flushed through the cylinders. A poor method, but it is used.

well i dont depend on stacy david infomersshials for much of anything than being comparable to billy mays and vince// old schoolers that i've known build a pressurized supply and fabricate a nozzle and light it off

Windshield washer resi with pump, steel line into the tailpipe and a sparkplug... Bernzomatic propane bottle with electric solenoid plumbed into tailpipe and a sparkplug... |

Nitrous injector, pump, Lp., spark plug, coil. aimed right should throw a good flame.

I was always under the impression they were done the way cdowns explained. I never really looked into it in depth because I never saw the point. No offense to anyone who is interested in it but its not my cup of tea.

Trailrider, those flames are unreal. I've seen them one other time but couldn't get close to them to see the set up.
A nitrous injector sounds like it would work to me also. |

Yea, right as I read your original post I went on youtube and searched for some flamethrower exhaust. CRAZY! I think it'd be pretty cool to have, but yet pointless at the same time...
Just thinking out loud- If you were stopped, say at a stop light, and there was a car behind you, would these flamethrower exhaust tips cause any sort of damage on the person behind yous car? |
