driveshaft question

hey guys i had an unfortunate problem today were the piece that suspends the two drive shafts snapped. i have a 68 Chevy with the cpp3-5 drop. is this a common problem and is there anything else i can do to prevent it. Im still learning so any help is appreciated. thanks guys.

they go bad, it's not expensive or too difficult to replace. all the replacements are pretty cheaply made pieces that many have replaced their carrier bearing multiple times. that's what it's called, carrier bearing. might as well do the u-joints since you have to separate the driveshaft. i bought the oreilys one. had to weld mine together after awhile and the rubber burned up so it's toast but hasn't broken since i reinforced it. there's a billet one out there thats got a poly bushing, and it's $50, $70 something expensive, but that's what i'd buy next

Try this out for size. My son was tearing these out of his 72 every few thousand miles, put the Pedestal Style on a few years ago and have not had any problems. Most drive line supply shops have these as well as most of the truck shops like CCP, Truck Shop out of Orange County, and I think Brothers carries them.
