Help with Drive Belt Question Please

Does anyone have a 454 that runs a serpentine belt for the alternator and a v belt for the power steering? If so, do you have a long or short water pump.

I have a 1977 C20 that has alternator belt issues and keeps shredding and/or throwing the belt. I have heard that some 1986 and maybe additional models have a serpentine belt for the alternator and a v belt for the power steering.

I know I need to align the pulleys but I am also interested in finding out if I could change just the one belt to a serpentine. If I had the money I would think about the whole $650 March Performance upgrade to a single serpentine belt (requires changing the alternator location to drivers side).

I'd appreciate any info from those that have the serp and v belt system.
Thanks.
