4 core rad

Going to replace the rad in my 72 k10 with a 4 core (big block rad), i already have bought the larger supports/rubbers which cradle this rad,is this all i have to do......looks like out with the old..... In with the new...... Starting to get pin holes in the side tanks on the original and i think its going to fall apart once it gets hot tanked.then i most likely would be looking at a new rad any ways truck has the orginal 350 but will be replaced with a 400 sbc ,just wanting to know if there is something else that needs to be done, shroud etc, should be a good up grade, always looking for the experts advice thanks

You will need 4 core hold down brackets for the top of the radiator - I was able to make the lower ones work.

Thanks Yukon Jack, I forgot to mention that i have the correct hold down brackets top/bottom,should fit right in,like your home page its awsome!

just did this swap, i was all set once i got the upper/lower mounts. i already had the larger shroud. only problem i had was getting the shroud lined up correctly to the upper mounts and bottom bolt holes,

Looks like according to the factory assy manual the bottom support brackets are held in place with rivets ,did you drill them out and did you have to do any more mods ,i was hoping that i can use my original fan shroud as the 4 core rad that i am getting is aprox the same with the exception of it being deeper by 5\8 of a inch.....3 core is 2 inches deep.....the 4 core is 2 5\8 ...thanks

My 4 core was a tad wider. There are 3 holes on the top of the core support for the upper mount on the passenger side, i used the middle and outer vs the inner and middle with the 3 core.

I had no rivets holding my original mounts on bottom, didn't put anything in with the new ones either. it has a little tab that sticks in a small rectangle hole i thought thats all it did. whoops. And like the top mount location my lower mounts used the outermost hole on passenger side to line up with the radiator tank/core seam.

I welded my lower brackets in place... remember, some aluminum 2 core rads cool just as well as a regular 4 core... What kind of fan are you running? The clutch or fixed?

I have a large bladed flex fan(fixed) with the fan shroud that came with the truck(oem)out here it seems my choices are a 2 core or a 4 core in the copper for this year truck my rad supports for the 4 core are supposed be in this week so when i take every thing apart i will have all my ducks in a row.......i hope!! Suppiers have the rads in stock but no 3 core go figure!

I bought the Ready Rad 433369 by Proliance Oreilly's might have it cheaper. Looks OEM to me... $196 shipped with code K4512 right now...

Thanks Big Mike for the info on the rad,good price too! they want $375 for the 4 core up here;another place wanted $525 for the same rad not including taxes, bunch of crooks up here!!!

no problem, not sure how much shipping will cost ya but that's a better price than I even paid for the same rad...
