Dupli-Color Shadow
This is a kit a saw one Sat morning on some car show. It's suppose to give some "black chrome" look. I don't know exactly what that is suppose to look like. But I do know I never liked the old American Racing rims that came with the 5. I figured for 18 bucks I'd offer mine up as a test run.
Long story short; a couple hours cleaning them up of dirt and rust, put 4 coats on, waited a week (weather) and applied 4 coats of clear coat. Both came with the kit. I like the look (better than before), looks like a metallic gun metal blue or something. My only concern is if they will start flaking. We'll find out.

Re: Dupli-Color Shadow
I think it looks pretty cool! Can't imagine doing this to a set of chrome rims that I liked though. I would like to do this to my alternator and anything else chrome under the hood though...can you spray paint an alternator?

Re: Dupli-Color Shadow
I bet you can. Hell, you can spray about anything. I gave my bumpers the eye, but decided against matching it up with the rims. I don't like things to match.

Re: Dupli-Color Shadow
I saw a set of black chome wheels today...I don't know if I've ever seen them before, but I was un-impressed...from a far, it almost looked like they just had a lot of brake dust on them...it didn't help that the SUV was pretty dirty though.

Re: Dupli-Color Shadow
I did not and I hear you loud and clear. I didn't because I wanted to find out how it would end up. Dupli-Color's instructions say remove all dirt/grease, etc. I know, I have my (serious), doubts, but we'll see.
