Time to upgrade my seats>>
I'm excited so I thought I would share. My 15yr old van seats are flat in 10min of seat time...they need to go.
I sold my kegerator and bought Corbeau Baja RS suspension seats, Awesome They are not bolted in yet. My old mounts are not suspension seat friendly. I need a hollo center not a flat plate to allow the center of the seat to...well suspend So this weekend I'm gonna weld up some mounts. Here is a crappy scetch of what I'll make: Eventually I will add the seat mounts to the cage but that mod is far away at this point so....more to follow. Burt

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
Those look good, are they comfortable? Just wondering how stiff they may be. I am looking to upgrade my seats as well.

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
Stiff, no not really. They are firm but the "suspension" or butt part is soft as you are sitting in a hammick or bottomless seat = suspended
The real test will be after I get them mounted and do some driving & wheeling

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
Better get some seat covers for those as the material will fade in about a years of being in the sun under a soft top. My buddy has a set and they are less than stellar looking now.

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
I have read about the lack of UV resistance, even though Corbeau says they are UV protected. Luckly my K5 sits inside the garage when not in use. I'm not too woried about them "turning ugly", I just wanted a suspension seat so as long as they function I'm happy
So far they seam great!

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
Dont get me wrong they do work great I was just a little unimpressed with the uv protection. The side bolster are killer and really keep you in place..

Not gone totally, answers PM,s
Nice work on the seats, didn't know you could weld. Did you plate under the floorboard?

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
heheh ya I saw his visit the other day...life happens
No, no plate under the carpet just the floor. Ya I can weld, not the pretty type welding as I use a stick welder "Buzz Box" but it works

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
I think YJ's asking if you put plates underneath the truck, for each bolt) to keep those seats from ripping out of the body.... but I could be wrong.

Re: Time to upgrade my seats>>
Why would they rip out of the body
The front bolts go thru a body "crossmember" and I have big ass bolts w/washers so I don't see it as a issue..my rig never goes fast anyway....maybe 50 tops from time to time but I trailer it everywere. Plus my old seats were mounted that way and that was what a 17year run. All good....
