Truck will not start with the wheel up
Hey everyone! This is probably a fairly simple question. When I have my wheel tilted to the top two notches, the truck will not start. The Battery light and Oil lights come on (like it is about to start) and nothing. Won't crank or anything. Someone I know mentioned moving the ignition switch down so the rods hit it earlier or something, but I have no idea how the rods inside the column work. Could someone explain to me how it works, and how to correct this problem? Thanks

Re: Truck will not start with the wheel up
yes moving the switch will solve the problem.the rod that moves the switch just isnt going far enough.a little adjustment is all thats needed.when your column starts to wear this starts happening.

Re: Truck will not start with the wheel up
Drop the column down and look at the rod on top going to a switch. When you turn the key it moves the rod and engages the switch. adjust it some to tighten it up. Its pretty basic. you need to get a shop manual on the truck it sounds like. it will help you alot.

Re: Truck will not start with the wheel up
So just take the 2 bolts out holding the column to the dash? I do need to get a manual. I know a bit about trucks, but I've only had mine for a year (I'm 16). Mostly I need to learn about interior workings, wiring, and body work.

Re: Truck will not start with the wheel up
I got it unscrewed the plastic part of the lower dash, and the metal part, took off two nuts holding up the column, pulled it down, loosened the ignition box, and slid it down, tightened it, and it worked!! Thanks a BUNCH!!!
