Re: Just came across this...

Man, wish I was closer. That is truly a shame to let those trucks go to waste...I hope they get rescued somehow.

Re: Just came across this...

My chest hurts. Me and my dad ran to western MN when I was in high school when his car club got wind that something like this was going on. There was a '57 Chev convertible and other car and trucks back to the 30's there. Everything worthwhile was rescued.

Re: Just came across this...

what a waste. always, the people who have them are the ones who don't care about them. if he cared, he'd sell them cheaper just to save them (and put money in his pocket sooner). still, 450 isn't bad for a complete vehicle.

we need to get celebrities involved. maybe Jay Leno would like a classic chevy truck?!!

Re: Just came across this...

This was already posted on the 67-72 board.
I went and checked it out.
Not much left worth saving. He's an active wrecker, and is tired of the game.
And he does care, he's got some amazing stuff set aside for himself, mostly early muscle and 30's iron.

Re: Just came across this...

must be an old image on his ad. i see a lot of nice 50's trucks and of course that 60-66 panel in the foreground. as long as he saves most of what is rare or salvageable. i do agree that sometimes you have to truncate down the herd but not when it is something truly vintage and has some a chance at another life. heck, i have two 80's project vehicles (87 ram 50 and 86 aries wagon) in addition to my 72 burb and neither are on the road....yet. rust is hell and expensive to fix!

Re: Just came across this...

When I was there he already had a crusher on site.
The area you see in the picture was secluded from the main body of the yard.
He had already gotten rid of about a football sized area of late-model junk.
I have no doubt that he crushed what was left.
As I said before, all the good stuff was spoken for and it wouldn't have been worth the trip.

Re: Just came across this...

Thanks YB,I appreciate it
I'm on call 24\7 at work (so far 4 days off in 2010)so it makes it tough to get out anywhere,Thank god for the internet.
I guess if the good stuff is gone there should be a raft of 60-66 and other projects (or parts) popping up in the next while, good to see
