will painting the back side [part you can't see when installed] on the tail light & reverce light housings mess up my grounds or anything ? thanks for any help.

Not if you use star washers and torque down hard hard enough for the washers to cut into metal. Also make sure the bed is grounded to the frame.

I usually powdercoat em chrome and use a dremel to clean a ground surface on the backside for the ground wire to attach to.

The original fasteners have washers with built in serations and if they are in good condition painting will not affect the grounding.
