Cool 67 GMC midnight money pit

Finally starting on on my project, the pics are kinda crappy and there is stuff piled in the box and on the hood because I only have a 2 car garage, not much room in there for storage and work. My oldest boy calls the truck Mater, cause its all rusty and stuff, lol. Took the left box side off to cut and section it to make it a short box. Sand blasted some hinges and latches for the tailgate. I will be measuring and cutting the boxside tomorrow.I will post some pics soon.

Re: 67 GMC midnight money pit

Thanks to all for the support.
The plans for the truck are:
convert the lwb to swb
complete wood bed kit
replace any rusted out panels(may be quite a bit to replace)
Power and ft disc conversion
lowering kit(not sure how low)
power steering conversion
do up the 400 sbc
convert to a 700r4 tranny(has 3 in the tree now)
march pulley set up
20 in rims
classic auto air conversion for AC to be moved in the cab
Aluminum 4 core rad and electric fan
one piece door windows
there may be more along the way!!!

Mad prop's to ya' for jumpin' right in! Glad to see you salvaging another GMC. Don't get me wrong- I'm totally down with the bowties, but there's something about a custom GMC that just rocks! Maybe it's the fact I have a '67 sitting in my garage that makes me biased. Nonetheless- nice project and good luck to ya.

Re: 67 GMC midnight money pit

Here are the pics of what i got done, got the front cliptaken off, the front fenders were rotten and damaged beyond repair,I'll have to get new ones.Took the winshield and rear window out, they are in mint shape.Got the steering column out,(anybody need or want a 3 in the tree column and a 3 speed trans). The floor is in pretty bad shape, I'm not sure what i'm going to do,either repair or replace the entire floor.

Re: 67 GMC midnight money pit

Not much progress these last couple months, been pretty cold lately, no heat in the garage. Hopefully I can get somdone after christmas. I'm trying to get a new job, so then I would be home every night. Then maybe I can get more work done, if the wife doesn't have to many projects for me to do.

Re: 67 GMC midnight money pit

Got the cab taken off now, I got some new tools for my b-day, got a engine crane and leveler. Took the engine out. Got to take the frame to my brother in laws shop so that we and shorten the frame. Ordered some new suspension parts from Porterbuilt Fabrication. I ordered the stage 2 front and rear kits. Thanks Nate for all your help. Hopefully I can get it all painted and put togethere before winter hits so that i dont freeze my but off.

I will post pics of the frame shortening and suspension install.
