unigue to 67'
was looking for info on parts and pieces that would be specific to 67's
such as,no side marker lights,kick panel vent pulls,wing vents etc... my 67'project has only one visor and no holes where the passenger one would have been,.... also on the use of a 327 engine,history and usage,what was the last year they were used in these trucks thanks, |

If you have only one sun visor, this means the truck did not have the custom comfort option, which mainly consisted of extra insulation, dual visors, and full foam seat. The custom comfort option was available even on base model trucks. The 327 was introduced in Medium Duty trucks in 1962, became a standard option in mid '65 on 3/4 tons. Became a standard option in the whole light duty line in '66. Reworked in '68 with larger bearings. 1969 was replaced by the 350 in the pickup line.There are cases where the 327 was special ordered thru COPO on early models.

283's were standard V8 with 327 Special Ordered in 67. 307's replaced the 283 in 68 as the standard V8. I thought. Some 67's passenger door arm rest wasn't installed in addition to no visor. (That's really cutting back on comfort.) The ignition bezel is a different size than the other models. What about bullseye clear back up light lens and the chrome around the fleet tail lights are slightly different than the rest of the years?? I think the west coast mirrors were only available in 67 and 68. Tripods 69 and later.

Mine has a differnt rearview mirror bracket, I had no armrests on either side, and no passenger visor. I believe the auto columns had a metal shifter indicator and a shorter pointer as well.

Non-recessed ignition switch, the clips that hold the sunvisor up are different - (they have a larger hole than later years) & knurled interior switches. Also, 67's have the cool factor that the later years didnt have either...

When you make a list it gets longer than you realise. I looked in my stash found my 67 Tail B/U Lens the top one is later years and repo's are similar. The rare CST Chrome 67 only Mirror, most were black.

Fuse box is mounted sideways. Last year for the small window cab. No Aux battery boxes. Paint on dash face & glove box is wrinkled. Door exterior handles are different internally. No ACC. position on ignition switch, only off/on/start. Also last year for the SM420 4 speed.

Ashtray is also one year only. CPNE schooled me on the fact that the outside door handles are 67 only. Seatbelts are 67 specific. Inside door handles, wing window latches. This is going to be a fun thread! Keep them coming! Sharpie

Exterior door handles have a different angle to the mounting bolts (doors have a reinforcement plate inside). Ashtray is flatter, not near as much "puff" to the sheetmetal. Sharpie

'67s have parking lights that go out when you pull the Lights knob all the way out. The glove box door is flat black. '67 K/10s use "Power Assist Steering" --and only rarely-- with a hydraulic ram assisting the manual gearbox. The vent window latches are a holdover from the "Task Force" '60/'66s. K/10 front brake drums (on closed knuckle Corp front end} are very rare, hard to get, and expensive when you find them.

I pulled a chrome rearview mirror bracket like that off my Dad's '64 Olds station wagon when we junked it (with a blown out 455). That was in the early '70s. When I bought a '67 K/10 Suburban in '93, the P.O. had a cheap repop '72-style glued-on-the -windshield mirror. It shook so bad you couldn't see out of it. I rememberd my souvenier of the old station wagon and dug it out. It mounted on the '67 like it was made for it. Still there. Although the Sub is lying fallow "until my ship comes in."

Checking various year's catalogs is a good idea.
I keep the catalogs on hand from LMC for reference. 67-72 and the years just before and just after. They have helped us a lot while we are working on these old trucks. I have a '68 swb stepper bed with a '62 GMC tail-gate.

This was a great thread. I wondered where the pass sun visor hole went :-) My 67 had only 2 line items on the glove box sticker. As bare a model as you could get.
