drop spindle question

A friend gave me a set of drop spindles and no parts yet and I'm wondering if I end up having to piece this together, can anyone ID these things. They have only 11702 RH and 11701 LH in the castings, thanks, John

Re: drop spindle question

They are GM application but the hard part is the ball joints and tie rods. The same type of spindle can be used in different trucks with only those diameters being different. Some are for early trucks and others for 73+.

I would guess that they are for 73+ as this seems to be the most popular way to do disc brakes. There are 'conversion' spindles which will use the original/stock tie rods and balljoints and look identical to the 73+ type.

You mite be able to go to a parts store and find ball joints for both applications and see which fit correctly.

Re: drop spindle question

I was searching the forums for these spindles. I picked some spindles up off craigslist for $200 with these castings. Does anyone know what year these fit? Do they use the origianl ball joints or do you have to use 73+ balljoints? Thanks.
