Problem with gas tank switch
I can't switch my gas tanks when I flip the switch. It only stays on one side. Can you give me some troubleshooting advice? is there a good repair manual out there. I have never been one for the Chiltons. Is there another manual that you recommend?

First of all, is it stuck on the primary or auxiliary side? I think that right is the primary. I have had mine stuck on the primary side twice. This may sound stupid, but does your horn work? The fuse for the horn is also connected to the gas tank switch. If the fuse is blown, it will revert back to the primary tank. You should also make sure that your auxialary power is connected to a good ground. If it isn't, it will revert back to the primary tank. Not positive how or why this is, but that's been my experience with it. I think that if the switch doesn't have power, it will revert to the primary tank, not totally sure though. Good Luck.

The horn DOES work. I'll check the grounds and try a new switch to see if it helps. Is there some sort of actuator that switches the sides? where is it located and how do I check it? I am new at all this stuff.

I believe that the actuator is located just to the inside of the passenger side tank. It should have four hoses going into it and only two coming out. I'm not sure how to test it, but make sure that the wire coming from the switch hasn't fallen off or anything like that. Good luck.
