Will this DUI HEI work on my sb400
Hey guys I need to get a new HEI and I was looking at the Davis Unified Ignition GM Street/Strip D.U.I. Distributors
The sb400 is only good for 6000rpms max. I have a mild street/strip setup. Thanks! |

Excellent choice btw I have purchased 3 of these over the years with no problems at all. You can even order them directly custom calibrated to your engine. http://www.performancedistributors.com/

They are Great... I actually converted a stocker over to all the DUI parts at one time, worked really good

Mine works great.
Just a side note: if it ever breaks, like on a road trip, stock hei parts from any parts store will get you going again.

Re: Will this DUI HEI work on my sb400
Thanks guys! I I have read a lot about the distributors and I think this one is my best bet.
Can anyone elaborate on the vacuum advance. Such as why do some trucks have it and some trucks dont? Why is it good for a street truck etc. Thanks again! |

Re: Will this DUI HEI work on my sb400
This is a quote from an article I once found online. This was the easy to understand part.
by Lars Grimsrud Colorado Corvette Crazies The Ultimate Corvette Tuning and Beer Drinking Fraternity Lafayette, CO "But in general terms, most GM V8s will produce peak power at WOT with 36-38 degrees of ignition timing. Peak fuel economy and drivability at cruise is achieved with about 52-54 degrees of advance. Best idle quality has a much wider range depending on cam & engine, but tends to be in the 12-24 degree range. Lowest emissions usually occur with timing in the 4-8 degree range."
