Question on sport bumper setup

My Blaze came with a custom channel-beam rear bumper and I'd like to go back to a sport bumper. Is there any difference between the rear mount brackets for the Blazer and the fleetsides? Somewhere I read that the blazer just uses 2 brackets instead of 4? Anyone have the skinny on Blazer bumpers?

I'm also looking for the best receiver hitch for a 4" lift Blazer with sport bumper. Class III or better.

Thanks, Tony

Re: Question on sport bumper setup

The bumper on the Blazer bolts directly to the end of the frame rails and has 2 brackets. A lot of them like mine have had the rear frame rails cut off to mount different rear bumpers. I think you can use the truck brackets if this is the case.

Re: Question on sport bumper setup

If I'm not mistaken, all pre 72 Blazers lacked the rear frame horns for bumper mounting. It was only the 72s in which the rear frame horns were extended all the way to the bumper. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this (I could be wrong with the year of the changeover).

Re: Question on sport bumper setup

My 71 had the brackets only, no frame horns, and believe its stock.

Re: Question on sport bumper setup

69-71 require 4 brackets
72 require 2 (outer only) brackets
