08 oil presure problem

I have a friend at work that has had two motors put in his gmc because of what the dealer is calling a oil sensor problem. The tech that is working on it states that G.M. is having a ton of probems with this.

I have not heard of it and he states that it affects all v-8's 07-09. Wordering if anybody else is having this problem. I would love for any of you GM mechanics could chime in that would be great.

Thanks, Jamie

Re: 08 oil presure problem

My stepdad's 08 had this issue. His oil pressure went to 0 while driving down the highway, he pulled over and killed it. Waited a few minutes and restarted, it showed presssure for a second then went to 0 again. He called the dealer and the towed it in. They had the truck for a week and found there was some plastic debris or something in the oil pressure sensor. They also stated that this was common and the long wait was supposedly for a new style sensor? Its been about 4 of 5 months so far with no issues.

Re: 08 oil presure problem

so there was nothing wrong with engine just the oil sensor? In other words it has oil pressure but it is not showing any because of the faulty oil sensor?

Thanks

Yes, it still took them a few days to detirmine this. I can't believe they just swapped out the engine twice over a sensor error.
