I am doing a frame off 1971 Jimmy. I am getting ready to paint the under side of the tub. I was going to paint it the body color med. blue. Does anyone know what the factory finish of the under side was when new? Black or body color? Now i am leaning to black. Thank you

The donor parts I used had the body color, but I went with a black under coating

My 72 Jimmy was black, but was completely undercoated. I did a frame off on mine and redid it black (Cool Car Ceramic). My truck had the Cheyane option though.

Mine was originally baby s$%t green, but the underside was black with heavy undercoating. The undercoat was in such good shape, I didn't mess with it.

My truck is very original and the underside is body colored.

Mine was very original with 56,000 miles and it was black with yellow overspray from the exterior.

There was also a truck with I believe under 100 original miles on here not to long ago that was Red Oxide primer on the bottom. It was just a basic package, so that could be why it was unpainted body color or black. I know Chevelles were left Red oxide primer with overspray on them when they left the factory, but trucks could have been different. Trevor
