bump stop

I recently started installing air bags (dominators 2600) on the front of my 69 Stepside, I was wondering if anyone had to remove the bumpstops? It seems to rub the bags. Will post some pics soon.
I was also wondering my truck has drums all the way around and wanted to install drop spindals (2 1/2 drop) can you use these spindals with the drums?
Thanks for the info, Eric

Re: bump stop

No drop spindles for drum brakes.
I recommend switching to disc brakes.
Most people remove the bumpstop bracket or anything else that will rub the bag.

Re: bump stop

K, Thats what I thought. I will cut off the stops, the dominators have stops buillt in them right?
I was researching the site and looking at other disk swaps is it just as cheap and easy to get a direct bolt on upgrade kit with the drop spindals?

Re: bump stop

A direct bolt on spindle is definitely the best bet.
No need to change balljoints or tie rod ends, unless they are bad.

I'm not sure about the built in bumpstops.
Slam Specialties bags have them,... I'm not sure about the Dominators.
Are you removing the inner fenders or keeping them?

Re: bump stop

I have Dom 2600's and 2 1/2 drop spindles with discs. i had to remove the bump stop/steering stop. I dont think the 2600's have a bump stop. i am still trying to figure out how to mount a new bump stop.

Let us know how you mount a new bump stop.

Here's what we did on my 77. It can be made shorter, but I wanted it to roll when aired out

Re: bump stop

N2TRUX, does that not rub when aired out? It may just be the pic, but it looks like it's sitting right up against the bag.

thats what i ran into when i was trying to figure out how to mount bump stops. it seemed the only places to mount it were going to cause it to rub the bag.
