Nice day for a drive to the top

Took the Blazer to the Continental Divide today......it was a beautiful day.

A little chilly up there but still a good day for a drive.

I'll take as many of these kinds of days as I can get at this time of year.

Re: Nice day for a drive to the top

Sup VT.....long time man.....

I'm still working on the build.....as you know it's never done.

Have a rear bumper in the fab shop getting a swing out tire carrier for that 35 inch spare and some backup lights recessed in it. Should be done in another week or two. I'll post pics when its done.

I'm using the factory front bumper and tucking the winch under/behind it since there is plenty of room.

Plan to weld the factory turn signals shut and put a small LED turn signal (motorcycle shop maybe) and a 4" PIA driving light in those locations.

That way I keep the factory look and have a winch and driving lights.

Wish I had gone with a 1970 grill, then I could have used a 1972 bumper for turn signals and the grill for driving lights.......but not changing now ;-)

The 4.11's and 35 inch tires with a NP 205 and TH350 is an awesome combo....really like the low end torque and it purrs at cruising speeds (65-70).

But the tach is reading wrong...so either I need a new tach or it's hooked up incorrectly but it reads high......another winter project I guess.

Otherwise I'm very happy with the build......lovin' it!!

Re: Nice day for a drive to the top

Yea been awhile, good to come back and catch up on all the builds and see how they turned out.

Seeing yours being used for it's intended purpose, certainly fuels the motivational fire.

Gives everybody with an unfinished project hope that they do eventually get done.

Again, nice job...beautiful blazer!

Awesome pics. I hope to take the Blazer that way sometime. Please post pice of the winch set up. I was planning to do the same set up. Kinda like the old Hickey winches were mounted. Anyways, glad you had a good time. Take care. Mario.
