NHRA truck requirements.

Marv, Super, DJ, and Regan: Please list a few things that are required for our trucks. Say 10.00 time and slower. Or 11.50 and slower. Just looking for some things that i will need to do to get ready. I know Cage under 11.50 but that will be down the road.

Re: NHRA truck requirements.

Aproved Helmet
10.99 fire jacket
10.00-11.49 5 point cage
8.50-9.99 8 point cage and window net
C-clip eliminators
Depending on wheels, rear wheels studs the pertrude through an open lug (draglites, prostars ect)
Drive shaft safety loop
If you have a fuel cell, a ground wire to chassis
If the battery is relocated to the rear, it needs to have a kill that actually works
Belts that are in date
Chassis cert if you have more than 6"x6" cut from the factory floor or firewall
Trans blanket or SFI Bellhousing
SFI flexplate
Metal valve stems

Thats a start off memory

Re: NHRA truck requirements.

Really trucks are no different than cars as far as rules. One that 'used to get' some guys is maximum height of crankshaft. They don't enforce it too much with todays big 4x4's , but used to be the big 24"+ lifted 4x4 monsters put the crankshaft too high. Don't remember what it was but a moot point for this discussion I'm sure (LOL)

Bottom of this page has 15 rules that will get most vehicles to 13's,

http://www.firebirdraceway.com/web/streetdrags.html

add helmet, DS loop and it will be good to 11.50

10-11.49 get's pretty tight, and Super has things pretty well spelled out... and I'm sure his memory is better than mine.

Lugs, wheel center caps, coolant overflow, cut-off for relocated battery, log pants, full t-shirt and closed toe shoes are the ones that get most newbees stuck in tech around here.
