Damn, I saw one of those trucks on craigslist about a month ago in excellent shape. 4x4 3/4 ton with a 400. Only needed paint, had those awesome door panels in great shape, 900 bucks.

My best friend in high school had a short wide 4wheel drive spirit of 76... his was red, white and blue, I have seen a few of these trucks, never seen one that was just blue and white.

That's cool. I like the seat, that's the seat Evel Kneivel would have had in his truck! I could see him jumping something with that truck!

Re: Spirit of 76

I've seen three of these in wrecking yards. Two had this exact color scheme and one was all white and may have been a repaint. They all had that seat.

I consider myself lucky when it comes to where I live and these trucks. In the Northwest we don't have big problems with rust. Lots of these trucks were sold here new and there are still a whole bunch of them around. I probably see 10 or more on my way to work driving around. That and the fact that I spend way too much time in wrecking yards, I've seen some cool stuff.

Another cool thing is how fast these trucks get stripped in the wrecking yards. Within a week of getting there, all the usable sheet metal and interior parts are usually gone. That means people are still out there fixing them up...
