Re: 700r4 shifting problem

Is this a new tranny? Check the governor gears. After checking try this method. New transmissions sometimes get stuck in first. Accellerate slowly. When is should shift to second, turn off the engine for a few seconds. Coast for just a few seconds. Throw it in neutral and crank it up. Accelerate. It should shift into second. Try a few times. If it fails to shift, you have problems inside the tranny.

HMMMM, B&M makes a good drill bit in my opinion. You probably have a check ball missing out of place.

Re: 700r4 shifting problem

where's the governor at? that might be whats wrong with mine...mine seems fine when the engine first starts, but once you let it idle a minute or two and the line pressure builds up, it doesn't want to shift into first or anything unless you pull it all the way down into first...

also, it doesn't want to shift out of first once it's in first...before the line pressure builds up it'll shift all the way into OD if you start the truck and immediately drive it down the highway...
