Is this mod- cool or not cool?

I installed a start / stop button in my dash cluster today. I dont have a keyed ignition no more all is being controlled via my GPS alarm. It will start and stop the engine with just a touch of a button on a remote. Or can do the same thing with my IPhone. So I thought it would be nice to be able to control the starting and stoping from inside the truck.....

Just getting started on the wiring but thought I would get some feedback on what I have done so far....

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

I'm not too high tech, do you still need to activate the ign ( key on position) via gps /iphone in order to use the start button? looks like a light comes on when the ign is on?

I probably prefer the stock location for the wipers myself cause i'm old school, but i like the idea of adding the button, I would probably still seek a hidden location so any potential theaf would not see and read the button and get ideas.

I think it's pretty cool as well. On a '67, that would be the choke location.

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

Since it's all I have, two thumbs up on this one. Very slick. Let's hear some more about the GPS alarm and what you have to do to start the truck...surely there has to be something that has to be done besides pushing that button...that'd be asking to be stolen if not...

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

is it set up like a remote started system,(fob/iphone) then get in and to move have to use the key?
intruck would be turn the key then the button? yes no..
seams any remote starter system you could do this with, but it seam to make it real easy to steal, as you already hotwired it, they just have to get passed the colum lock

I like it; my plans are to have push start in the original bezel. I found a button from Autolock that fits perfectly.

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

To cool for skool!! I love these they hark back to the old sports cars like Jags & Aston's of the sixties which had push button start, I looked into these and will go this route one day myself.
Fesler do a nice affordable set up, then Flaming River do another that is really pricey.

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

Give more details please.

Is this something you peiced together from junk yard parts?

What inpsire you to tackle this? And beyond the alarm system (what type is it) are you're concerns?

looks like a very good idea and well thought out if all goes according to plan.

Keep us updated!

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

That is fricking awesome!

Please give us more info on how it works and how you can keep it from being stolen. VATS, or what you are using to keep someone from just getting in, pushing the button and driving away.

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

Push to start, when I started driving...used to involve some friends or another vehicle. Even with an automatic....as long as it had a rear pump.

Push to start today....cool. I like where you put it, so it can be shown to all comers. Would I put mine there? Don't know, but on a panel for a manual choke, it looks right at home. For me....I'd put mine where the original ignition switch goes....but (again) that's just me. Your's looks great. Nice and clean.
