Re: How to remove stepbed in one piece?
I use two chain falls to pick the bed off and then drive or push the truck out of the way. Here is a pic of a stepside which is being installed. I made up oak blocks to fit the bed posts to use as lifting points. The front of the bed is covered to prevent damage to the cab or bed.

Re: How to remove stepbed in one piece?
I do the same with two hoists. Once I had to lift one outdoors without a hoist. I used sawhorses on either side and 2X4s across to rest the bed on. Then roll the truck out from under.

Re: How to remove stepbed in one piece?
I used some of the stake pocket tie downs, 2 lengths of chain and my cherry picker. Since the stake pocket tie downs use rubber, I have to readjust them when I goto relift it a second time. NO biggie to me.
