Wiring harness

So I've been looking around for the best choice for my 69 c/10 as far as wiring goes and im not sure yet which brand and which harness to choose.

so I have read EZ wiring, painless, auto something, and of course rebuilding your own. I dont mind putting in man hours but i also dont mind buying one that is already done!

so I just want to make sure that i get the right one I want to be able to add on extra things like HO alt, a sound system LED lights in different places a second battery, and just other stuff to set my truck apart from others so any direction would be helpful!

Check out LMC they have different wiring harness' for your truck.

If I had to do it all over again, I would use the AAW Classic update series. I used the EZ and others like it, it wasnt EZ and it looks like someone "made" it fit. i decided I want mine to be like factory but updated for PW?PDL?AC?etc etc.

I just love my M&H (same as LMC I hear).
They know their stuff and are willing to work with you if you need anything extra.
So their costumer support is top notch.

Im been putting in my E-Z harness yesterday and today, I would not recommend them. So far I have found some wiring mistakes in the harness that they made. I got the all black wires one and the wires are labled every 3"-4" or so of what it goes to. I have 3 left rear turn signal wires, no wiper wires, is the problems I have found so far. Their customer service sucks, called 3 times yesterday left 3 messages, called 3 times today - no returned calls. They own Dolphin Gauges also, well the phone number the same anyway. I finally got ahold of someone at Dolphin Gaiges and she said someone would call me right back.... You guessed it-NADA.....

The wiring is not hard, it just takes some thinking and organizing and time. In normal situations I think someone could do it in a weekend, but I got alot of other electronics to wire up along with the electrical harness.

Clyde65 hit the nail on the head! I have used a M&H more than once, and would recommend them! If you talk to them they will modify a ' stock' harness to what you want. Factory wiring color, and easy to trace IF you have a problem. Their harnesses also come terminated. That eliminates YOU making a bad connection. I have NEVER had a problem with their stuff

The lengths are spot on too, and they use the original style hard plastic looms and cloth tape.

EZ Wiring user here ... easy as pie as long as you can read. All wires are GM color-coded and marked every 3-4 inches. The biggest problems with these sort of harnesses are people tend to overlook how important a good grounding system is.

so i am hearing some back and forth on EZ wiring...this is what i got so far...the are CHEAP (in my opinion) but kind of hit and miss. I could see how some people could make simple mistakes that could cause bigger ones. I AM NOT saying anyone is dumb or anything like that. but i know how i MAKE mistakes.


so also M&H which i have not research but good remarks so far. anyone know price?

I also used EZ-Wire Cant say much bad about the wiring itself, however the instruction that came with the kit sucked big a$$! I did not have a old harness to reference. Or the knowage of how wiper switches, ignition switches, headlight switches, ect were specifically wired, so instruction would have been great, but thanks to this site and the internet in general, It all worked out.

I used the AAW harness and the fit and finish was great. They are also marked every 6 inches and the instructions are perfect. It costs a little more, but it is a true front-to-back harness and it comes with all factory connections. Check out my build thread for some pics of the install. I really believe it is worth the little extra money. Some of the LMC ones look nice, but you have to by a separate cab harness, engine, harness, rear harness, etc. Just my opinion.

I'd like to know if the other brands of wiring harness have the factory plastic looms for the radiator and Cowl crossovers or is this something M&H does?

Yes, M & H have the wire gutter for the headlight harness and the wire gutter for the engine harness. If I remember correctly one of the holes was of in the gutter, so I had to make a hole, other than that fits perfect.

AAW has them on their Factory Fit direct replacements as well
